Coastwright
A rebrand for a fictional independent brokerage in Orange County, from the Diagnostic to the tools in every agent’s hands.
A good brokerage nobody could describe
An independent brokerage with around 80 agents and three offices along the Orange County coast, founded in the mid-nineties and named after its founder. Loyal agents, steady listings, and a brand that looked like every other brokerage in the market.
Recruiting had stalled, younger agents were choosing the national names, and agents were making their own marketing with whatever tools they had.
The category default
There’s no old logo to show. You’ve seen it anyway: it’s the category default.
What five days of listening found
Agent and client interviews, a brand and site audit, and a map of every competitor within twenty miles. Four findings shaped everything after.
Nobody could say what made them different
Clients and agents described the brokerage with the same words every competitor uses: local, trusted, family. Warm, and invisible.
The recruiting pitch was a commission split
When the only story is the split, the brokerage competes on price for agents, and loses to whoever offers more.
Their best asset wasn’t on the page
Agents who stay for decades, clients who come back for their kids’ first homes. The brand said none of it.
Every agent was making their own marketing
Dozens of flyer styles, three versions of the logo, license numbers missing from half the posts.
For people who plan to stay, Coastwright is the coastal brokerage built for the long run: agents who know these streets for decades, and advice that still holds up years after closing.
Advice that holds up.
We’ll still be here, and still be right, when you sell this house too.
Build a business that lasts.
Brand, tools and mentoring that compound over a career, not a split that resets every year.
A wright is a maker.
Shipwright, wheelwright, playwright: someone who builds things properly. Coastwright builds homes’ futures along this coast.
The dovetail
A dovetail is the woodworker’s strongest joint: the harder you pull, the tighter it holds. Two pieces, brokerage and agent, made to last together.
Advice that holds up.
Clear, warm and easy to read on a yard sign, a phone, or a 40-page market report.
From the yard sign to the join page
The identity works hardest where people actually meet it: on the street, in an agent’s hand, and on the page that convinces an agent to switch.
Build a business that lasts.
Mentoring from agents with decades on this coast, a brand clients remember, and tools that do the busywork for you.
Advice that holds up.
